10X RELIGION

The Science of Belief

Traditional religions rely on faith in a cosmology that often leads to behavior devoid of meaning of well-being outside the context of a story one is asked to have faith in. Science relies on faith in a story based on observation and repeated experimentation to explain why things happen and are likely to happen again. Belief is a form of faith, and beliefs based on evidence derived from experimentation and feedback tend to be more useful in the goal of creating sustainable well-being than beliefs based solely on historical legend that cannot be re-created and tested. What follows are seven directions of belief which have strong supporting evidence that acting on them will enhance a majority of people’s lives. By participating in these beliefs and testing them, you can learn which of these beliefs help your life and provide data to support or refine these beliefs. Write a story about how you practice any of the beliefs below and how that belief enriches or does not enrich your life. I will publish your story unabridged for people to read and to provide additional evidence that supports or undermines these beliefs. Pick one of the topics below.

  1. Understand Trauma: A traumatized person references the oldest portion of the brain, the reptilian brain, as the primary operating system, leading to some of the highest amounts of suffering in people’s lives. For an overview of Trauma, start with “The Body Keeps the Score,” and continue your education at: www.UnderstandTrauma.com

  2. Emotional and Mental Literacy: Knowing how to combine thoughts and feelings to take actions that will improve sustainable well-being is our primary source of freedom, power and better realities.   www.HumanStates.org is an exploration of feelings and their origin.

  3. Goals: Research shows that having clearly defined written goals increases the odds of accomplishing non-urgent highly relevant objectives by more than 300%. To test this, measure what you did last year and then write down goals for your year, quarter, month, week and day, reviewing the daily goals and creating new daily goals weekly etc. If your research finds the same thing, continue with your goals.

  4. Sustainability: Our planet is host to our body. Becoming carbon-neutral or negative helps insure that the ecology for future generations will be healthier than our ecology today. Please take steps to become carbon neutral: https://happinessdata.org/carbon-neutral-and-negative-award-program

  5. Altered States: Self Transcendence is the experience of belonging to an ecology that is bigger than our egoic sense of self. Dance, yoga, tantra meditation, chanting, serving others and the safe use of psychedelic plants are all ways to transcend the limited sense of self with altered states: www.10xPsychedelics.com

  6. 10 X Parenting: Parenting affects the future of our species more than almost any other skill. Learning the skill and art of parenting deserves our respect: www.10xParenting.com

  7. 10 X Community: Small groups of people with shared goals can realize these goals five to ten times more efficiently than as isolated individuals in a typical housing context. Because of this it is highly intelligent to move into a data-based well-being community, such as the following: www.10xLiving.org
